Ethereal Winds
A genuinely once-in-a-lifetime event, the most powerful solar storm in nearly six years slammed into Earth, and I had a front-row seat.
As an Australian, I had never had the chance to witness the Northern Lights. However, in 2016 I moved to Canada with the hope of one day experiencing this phenomenon. Canada is an incredible country with diverse landscapes. During my travels, I lived in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. It was during that time that I finally got to witness the breathtaking display of the Northern Lights, as depicted in Etheral Winds.
In the days leading up to this night, we experienced a series of strong solar storms, which resulted in active auroras for several weeks. However, as I monitored the data for this specific storm, the forecast indicated that it could be a much bigger one, perhaps the biggest yet. When I arrived at my shooting location in the afternoon, I looked up and felt a little disheartened as I noticed clouds starting to form. But then I realized, hang on… those clouds were moving!! I couldn’t believe my eyes; the shapes and light from the aurora were already showing in the sky before it was even dark.
As the night progressed and the sky got darker, the aurora borealis grew in intensity, producing vibrant colours that were astonishing to witness. Shades of purple, pink, red, and various other hues emerged, creating a breathtaking sight. I captured several photographs of different locations in Banff National Park that evening, including the iconic Rundle Mountain range, as seen in this image overlooking the town of Banff. The memories of photographing this night will be ones that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Common Questions
What does ‘Limited Edition’ mean?

How do you hang the artwork?
All of our pieces will arrive with the necessary hanging equipment already attached to the back of the frame. In addition, one set of drywall anchors will be included with each purchase for mounting on drywall only. For more detailed information on how to hang your artwork, please refer to our FAQs page.
How long will shipping take?
We know you’ll be waiting in anticipation to receive your new artwork at your door! Orders are generally dispatched within 14 days after you place your order. Once shipped, the arrival timeframe is an additional 7-14 business days, depending on the final destination and courier. However, any damage reported outside of this window will not be eligible for a replacement.
The Modern Era Of Fine Art
Displaying an artist's work can be done through various mediums, but some stand apart over others. All Marc James' pieces are printed on one of the highest-grade fine art materials available today - aluminium dye sublimation printing. This special process involves sublimating the ink directly onto a sheet of light-reactive white aluminium using heat and pressure. The result is a print with exceptional brightness, vibrancy, and clarity that most other printing techniques cannot match. The prints are so luminous that they almost appear backlit at times.
The final product merges this with a hidden frame attached to the back to let the piece float elegantly off your wall, creating the perfect modern art piece for any home or space.
An exclusive community for collectors.
